Design & Construction at HER Home Design Academy

HER Home Design Academy is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to workforce development in residential design and construction. In 2026, HER Design Build formally integrated into the Academy, bringing professional design and construction services fully under our nonprofit mission.

Today, all building and remodeling work is delivered through HER Home Design Academy’s Design & Construction Division.

What This Means

This integration allows us to combine real-world residential projects with hands-on education and workforce training, all within one aligned organization.

    •    Clients receive professionally managed design and construction services

    •    Students gain supervised, real-world exposure to the industry

    •    Earned project revenue is reinvested directly into education and training programs

This model strengthens quality, accountability, and long-term sustainability—while keeping education at the center.

How Our Design & Construction Division Works

HER Home Design Academy’s Design & Construction Division delivers residential projects using a contractor-led model.

    •    All client contracts are held by HER Home Design Academy

    •    Licensed and insured professional subcontractors perform all construction work

    •    The Academy provides:

     ◦ design guidance and planning

     ◦ project management and coordination

     ◦ scheduling and quality oversight

On select projects, students may participate in structured, supervised educational activities such as observation, documentation, and approved learning tasks. Students are not used as replacement labor.

A Workforce Development Model with Real Impact

Our goal is to prepare students for careers in design and construction by exposing them to professional standards, workflows, and expectations.

By integrating real projects into the Academy:

    •    students learn in context, not just in theory

    •    industry partners engage with emerging talent

    •    communities benefit from high-quality residential improvements

This is not a traditional construction company—and not a traditional classroom.

It is a design & construction education model built for real outcomes..
